Terms and conditions for theatre advice

1. speelhetslim

With speelhetslim, OPENDOEK offers theatre groups the chance to receive free, tailored theatre advice.

2. Cost

OPENDOEK covers the costs linked to the theatre visit (excluding catering, extra tickets and similar expenses).

3. Frequency

  • If you want a theatre adviser to attend a performance, you can request this once per theatre season.
  • If you want a theatre adviser to attend a rehearsal, you can request this once per production.
  • If a group wants a second or additional visits from a theatre adviser, the group covers all costs after the first visit.

4. Conditions for a theatre adviser visit

  • For rehearsal advice, the group receives one theatre adviser. For performance advice, two advisers may attend. In both cases, the group provides free tickets.
  • After the performance or rehearsal, time is set aside for a follow‑up talk. Together with the adviser(s), you decide who takes part in this conversation. Please provide a quiet space for this.
  • During the follow‑up talk, the adviser names the strengths and growth opportunities. This may be followed by concrete advice or a possible solution. The group writes these findings down in a feedback report.
  • For a rehearsal, the adviser receives the report within one week. This timing allows the adviser to give extra tips before the performance.
  • For a performance, the adviser receives the report within two weeks. After receiving it, the advisers may decide whether an extra follow‑up talk is needed.

5. The advice conversation

The theatre adviser shares their findings, explains more where needed, and offers suggestions if desired. Afterwards, the group writes the feedback report themselves.

6. Participation in festivals

The feedback conversation and the self‑written report do not guarantee a place at any of our festivals, nor do they represent a quality judgement from OPENDOEK. If a group wants to take part in a festival, it must submit its application for that festival through the official procedure.

7. Cancellation

OPENDOEK informs the group at least one week in advance about the date of the theatre adviser’s visit.

If the visit can no longer take place, please inform sven.vanrietvelde@opendoek.be and info@opendoek.be at least two working days in advance. This allows us to notify the adviser on time.

If a theatre adviser arrives at a rehearsal or performance and the advice visit cannot take place, the costs already made* will be charged to the group.

OPENDOEK will inform the group in time if a feedback conversation cannot go ahead. We then look for a new date together with the group.

8. Data

All submitted data is used internally for speelhetslim. The theatre adviser who carries out the visit receives a copy of this information. The adviser may use this information only for this theatre advice.

*Costs made: fee for the theatre adviser(s) + kilometre allowance
