OPENDOEK's passion for theatre is not limited to the borders of Flanders and Brussels. OPENDOEK participates in various international projects and is a member of international partnerships. They also offer many playing opportunities for our members and affiliated companies. OPENDOEK wants to encourage its members to look for international contacts. AITA/IATA stands for Association Internationale du Théâtre Amateur / International Amateur Theatre Association.
AITA/IATA is the global organisation for community theatre. Their mission is to promote understanding and education through theatre. Every two years, AITA/IATA organises a theatre festival and an international congress. In 2015, Belgium hosted the international edition of the Flemish theatre festival Spots op West.

The Mondial du Théâtre is the official festival of the international organisation AITA/IATA. Its aim is to present a wide range of performances that reflect the cultural diversity of the global community performing arts scene and offer an international overview of its high quality. Since 1957, this festival has been organised every four years in Monaco. In 2021, the 17th edition took place. Belgium was represented by De WAANzin and TRAC from Ghent.

Future Telling is a unique summer theatre project in Slovenia where you get to meet like‑minded young people (aged 18 to 30) from six different countries.
Since 2018, OPENDOEK has been part of the international collaboration Future Telling. Future Telling is a unique summer theatre project in Slovenia where you get to meet like‑minded young people (aged 18 to 30) from six different countries. Alongside Belgium, the participating countries are Germany, Finland, Croatia, Slovenia and Israel. Participants immerse themselves in theatre workshops while engaging with a variety of cultures.

EDERED (European Drama Encounters) is a multi‑day European theatre encounter for young people.
EDERED (European Drama Encounters) is a multi‑day European theatre encounter for young people.
EDERED (European Drama Encounters) is a multi‑day European theatre encounter for young people. It has existed since 1982 and is organised each time in one of the 17 partner countries. Young people connect through drama and theatre and take part in a programme of intensive intercultural workshops and various social activities. Together, they work towards a performance that is presented to a local audience.

The Sighnaghi Theatre Festival in Georgia is a young festival dedicated to community‑based theatre. The festival focuses on developing the artistic talents of participating companies and on building an international theatre community.
The three best productions are selected by an international jury and receive prizes ranging from €3,000 to €6,000.
